Jenn Thompson

I’m an educator, school leader, and lifelong science and learning enthusiast with over 17 years in classrooms including 15 years in school leadership roles across six different schools and two school divisions in northern Alberta. I’ve served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, inclusive education coordinator, and district wellness leader and I’ve worked in everything from junior high science labs to launching brand-new high schools from the ground up.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: great learning happens when people feel connected, supported, and curious. Whether I’m leading a STEMagineers session, designing hands-on science experiences, or facilitating professional learning with staff, I focus on practical strategies that actually work in real schools, with real kids, and real constraints.

I hold a Master of Science in Education (Leadership) and a Bachelor of Education and I bring deep experience in collaborative planning, inclusive education, restorative practices, mental health supports, and curriculum-aligned instruction.

I’ve also had the privilege of working closely with multidisciplinary teams, Indigenous Education Services, and community partners to support students with complex needs.

What makes my professional development different? It’s designed and delivered by someone who has lived the job, who understands the pressure, the joy, the exhaustion, and the magic of schools. My sessions are interactive, practical, research-informed, and always grounded in respect for educators’ expertise.

Honouring Where We Are & Planning Where We Want to Go

This interactive professional development session designed to support educator wellbeing, strengthen team connection, and create space for honest reflection. Through a balance of play, conversation, and guided discussion, participants explore the realities of compassion fatigue and burnout while acknowledging the emotional labour that comes with working in schools.

This session invites staff to reflect on their own circle of control, identify what helps sustain meaningful work, and consider how collective wellbeing can be intentionally supported through shared practices and collaborative structures. Grounded in real school experiences, the session leaves teams feeling seen, supported, and aligned—ready to move forward together with clarity, compassion, and a shared sense of purpose.
